CBT

What CBT Is

CBT is a structured, goal-oriented therapy that helps you identify and change unhelpful thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
It’s based on the idea that:

  •  Thoughts affect feelings
  • Feelings affect behaviors
  • Behaviors reinforce thoughts

By changing one part of this cycle—usually thoughts or behaviors—you can improve your emotional well-being.

How CBT Works

A typical CBT process includes:

  • Identifying negative or distorted thoughts (“I always mess things up”)
  • Challenging them with evidence
  • Replacing them with more balanced thoughts
  • Practicing new behaviors (like exposure, problem-solving, or communication skills)

CBT often includes homework so you practice skills between sessions.

  • Anxiety disorders (GAD, panic, social anxiety)
